Letter Classification -Ejoty

Letter Classification- EJOTY Technique: This technique is quite helpful in identifying the alphabetical position of the element. In this technique we remember the alphabetical position of E as 5, J as 10, O as 15, T as 20 and Y as 25. and then we will identify the position of the element with respect to these positions. For example if are to identify the position of R we know that R is positioned in the alphabet after O.and it is three elements away from O so its position is 15 + 3= 18

Illustration: Find the odd one out in the group  C, E, G, J

(1) C                (2) E          (3) G             (4) J

Answer : (4)

Solution  To  analyse the group, we have to identify the position of the elements with the help of EJOTY technique and will then identify the rule.

C, is at position 3, E is at position 5, G is two positions away from E hence the position is 7 and J is at position 10

Except J, all other letters (C, E and G ) occupy odd-numbered positions in the English alphabet.

So, J is the ODD ONE OUT, as it is at an even-numbered position in the English alphabet.

Illustration: Find the odd one out in the group  G, K, I, Q

(1) G                (2) K          (3) I             (4) Q

Answer : (3)

Solution  To  analyse the group,  we have to identify the position of the elements with the help of EJOTY technique and will then identify the rule.

G is two positions away from E hence the position is 5+ 2= 7,

K is one positions away from J hence the position is 10+ 1= 11,

I is four positions away from E hence the position is 5+ 4= 9,

Q is two positions away from O hence the position is 15+ 2= 17,

Except I, all other letters (G, K and Q ) occupy prime -numbered positions in the English alphabet.

So, J is the ODD ONE OUT, as it is at an even-numbered position in the English alphabet.
